Reach, Give, Consume
Graphite drawing 7 ft x 2.7 ft, ink, nails, dress, hanger, pot, water, red wine. 2017.
The body undergoes a metamorphosis from human to wolf, or wolf to human, or was never initially fixed in either of those forms. The grandmother’s hands emerge from monstrous wolf legs, hair, wrinkles, witches nipples, and a gap. The hands reach for invisible fruit, they give to an imagined desire, and they consume with carnal fury. Actions performed by the artist upon the white dress embody transformation through cleaning and staining. Little Red communicates with the grandmother and the wolf through the clothing suspended in her absence, resisting a fixed state of being.
